Argentina Strengthens Technological Alliances with Illinois through Business Rounds on AI and Software

In a demonstration of the growing ties between Argentina and the United States in the tech sector, the business roundtable “Argentina: Artificial Intelligence and Software” was held in Chicago. The event, which took place on November 13, 2024, featured prominent Argentine and American companies and was organized by the Argentine Consulate in Chicago, with support from the National Directorate of Technology (DNTEC), the Illinois Chamber of Commerce, Chicago Innovation, and Wines of Argentina (WOFA).

The meeting brought together key players from the tech sector in both countries, promoting the exchange of ideas and the creation of new business opportunities. Six Argentine companies participated, holding business meetings with 14 U.S. companies from Illinois’ tech ecosystem.

The event was also attended by various diplomatic and commercial figures, including the Consul General of Peru, Verónika Bustamante; the Consul General of Brazil, Reinaldo Salgado; and Samantha Conde, Commercial Affairs Officer at the Mexican Consulate. Additionally, Winchell Cheung from the Hong Kong Trade Office and Dominic Tetú from the Quebec Promotion Agency were present.

During the event, several speakers discussed opportunities in the tech sector. Representing Argentina, Pablo Abdian and Sebastián Rodríguez from Celera Labs, and Lucio Moya from Khem Labs provided a comprehensive overview of advancements in artificial intelligence. From Illinois, Laura Ortega (Illinois Chamber of Commerce), Caroline Crozier (LatinX DLN), and Matt Wren (VRAR Chicago) shared their insights on the North American market.

The Argentine Consulate’s presentation highlighted the growth of the knowledge economy in the country, with exports reaching 8 billion dollars in 2023, accounting for 9% of the national total. It was also noted that Argentina has 484,000 direct jobs in the sector and more than 50 global development centers.

The event concluded with B2B meetings between companies, fostering concrete partnerships. Afterwards, attendees participated in a masterclass on Argentina’s wine regions, led by Verónica Kathuria, General Manager of Wines of Argentina for the U.S. and Canada. Renowned wineries such as Achaval Ferrer, Amuta, Argento, Lamadrid, Trivento, Wapisa, Zaha, and Zolo offered an exclusive tasting.

This business roundtable reaffirms Argentina’s commitment to innovation and international collaboration, opening new doors for the country’s tech and wine industries.
