Argentina Promotes Business and Technology in Atlanta

With the goal of enhancing bilateral cooperation and exploring new opportunities in the tech sector, a delegation of 19 Argentine companies conducted a business mission in Atlanta from April 15 to April 16, 2024. During the two days, representatives from Argentine companies met with key players in the region’s innovation and development ecosystem, fostering the exchange of ideas and facilitating the creation of strategic partnerships.

The first day began with a visit to the Georgia Tech Enterprise Innovation Institute, where officials from the institution presented the Soft Landings program and opportunities for foreign tech companies looking to enter the U.S. market. This session was followed by a presentation at the Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC), led by John Avery (Executive Director of ATDC) and Red Daniels (Fintech Catalyst), who provided a detailed insight into Atlanta’s innovation ecosystem.

In the afternoon, the delegation participated in a roundtable organized by the Metro Atlanta Chamber (MAC). The session covered topics related to business opportunities in Atlanta and the region’s economic development. Later, meetings were held with representatives from local companies, including Chick-Fil-A, Carter’s, Siemens Advanta, and Capgemini, solidifying the exchange of experiences and exploring potential collaborations.

The day concluded with a networking reception at the Buckhead Club, where Alana Lomónaco Busto, Argentina’s Consul General in Atlanta, along with Larry K. Williams (President and CEO, Technology Association of Georgia), welcomed attendees, highlighting the importance of strengthening bilateral relations.

The second day of the mission began with a meeting with the Argentine-American Chamber of Commerce, where businesspeople and professionals based in Atlanta provided an overview of business opportunities in the region.

A panel on the business ecosystem in Atlanta followed, moderated by Daniela Demaria (Head of Wealth at Flagstar Bank). In this session, Alejandra Torchia (Equifax), Mariano Maluf (Kimberly Clark), and Nicolás Faletty (Coca-Cola North America) discussed strategies for entering the IT sector and the challenges faced by foreign companies in the region.

The delegation then visited the Atlanta Tech Village (ATV), where officials provided a tour of the facilities. The session included presentations by Carlos Delcid (Puzzle), Elkanah Reed (WORKOPTI), and Kyle Painting (EZ Innovation), who shared their experiences in developing startups in Atlanta.

The mission concluded with a networking event hosted by the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG), where participants enjoyed a tasting of Argentine wines, combining business with the promotion of the country’s winemaking culture.

The business mission to Atlanta, organized by the Argentine Consulate in Atlanta and the Directorate of Promotion of Knowledge-Based Services (DNTEC), reaffirms Argentina’s commitment to expanding its international presence and strengthening trade ties with key players in the U.S. tech ecosystem. Such initiatives not only promote the growth of the knowledge-based services sector but also aim to position Argentina as a significant player in the global innovation and technology landscape.
